Kit moved from Minnesota to Arizona when he was eleven years old. He was interested in drums and music from an early age. In Sixth grade, Kit joined the school band and began taking lessons on drum set. His love of music kept him extremely active with the Gilbert Public Schools music programs during his school years. In high school, he focused on marching band, concert band, winter drumline, and jazz band. During that time, he helped grow the program into a successful award winning production. After graduating, Kit accepted a teaching position with his former high school band program, where he taught for five years.
Kit also performed in Drum Corp International (DCI) and Winter Guard International (WGI). His drum corps experience was with the following groups: Arizona Summer Brass and Percussion Ensemble (now Arizona Academy), Seattle Cascades, and Esperanza. Kits WGI experience includes: Momentum World Percussion Ensemble, and Arizona State University World Percussion Ensemble. Kit had drum set instruction under Dave Rehab and Dom Moio. Rudimental instructors include: Rich Hinshaw, Antonio Hernendez, John Mapes, Ralph Hardimon, Glen Crosby, Chris Evans, Mike Rivetto, and Brian Speilberger.
In addition to DCI and WGI, Kit was a performing member of two local bands: “Hush” and “Buskin Cuffs”. Each of these bands performed around the valley and produced albums which can be found on iTunes, Spotify, AmazonMP3, and other similar services. Kit also recorded and performed with Courtney Cotter King. As a member of ASU’s drumline Kit also performed on stage with well known country star Keith Urban. He also had the honor of performing in San Antonio for the National Girlscout Convention with Jonnie and Brookie, the winners of Disney’s Next Big Thing. In addition, Kit records on various albums and is also a member of a house band (“Donny Grubb Band” since 2012) for The Hitching Post in Apache Junction, Arizona and formally at the famous Buffalo Chip Saloon in Cave Creek, Arizona. While playing in the Donny Grubb Band, Kit has played for NASCAR and played up in Canada at the Rockin River Fest in 2017 and 2018. Opening for such acts as Willie Nelson, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Joe Nichols, among others. Kit, also, plays for Canadian Country Star Kenny Hess. He has also recorded with Ashley Wineland, Gus Campbell, Chris Muglia, Courtney Cotter King, Donny Grubb, JD Hoag, Mustang Mikki, The Red Hot Rhythm Rustlers and Jonnie and Brookie.
